What is a popped chip?

We use heat and pressure to craft our Mozaics popped chips (instead of frying them in oil or baking them in an oven). This process is similar to how rice cakes and crisped or puffed rice cereal are made.

How does the popping work?

We take good-for-you ingredients, like peas, black beans, potatoes and rice, and shape them into pieces about the size of a lentil. They’re mixed up and placed into a triangular mold where heat and pressure are applied. After a few seconds, the ingredients…pop! They expand quickly, like popcorn, blowing off energy and moisture and fusing together. Since the ingredients are mixed at random and then placed into the mold, each chip comes out with a different pattern of colors — like a mosaic.

What are these green and yellow bits in the chip?

Peas. Actual peas. Not pea flour, not isolated pea protein, but real organic green and yellow peas.

What are these black bits in my Sea Salt/BBQ/Cheddar/Salsa Mozaics? Is that pepper? Are the chips burned?

These chips are made with organic black beans. The inside of the bean is white and almost disappears into the chip, but the skin of the bean is black — and can look like a flake of pepper. Since no two Mozaics are the same, you may find a chip here and there that has a lot of black bean skin and looks like it's been peppered (or burned).

I've had veggie chips/gluten free chips before that taste like cardboard, so I’m a bit hesitant to try them again. How are Mozaics different?

We spent nine months perfecting the ingredients and flavors in Mozaics, and each one’s delicious. Try ‘em out!

Which flavor’s your favorite?

Which one of your kids do you love the most? ;-P It's hard to decide, and our favorite flavors change depending on the day (or the hour!). Our biggest seller’s Sea Salt. If you like sweet, try BBQ; if you like heat, try Salsa. In the mood for something cheesy? Go with Cheddar. Craving a tangy snack? Choose Sour Cream & Onion. Or, go with a variety pack and let us know which is your favorite flavor!

Is the Salsa flavor actually hot?

This salsa flavor was approved by a Texan, so yes, it has some kick to it! Those sensitive to spice may find it too hot, but those that like a little heat will really enjoy it.

Are there any allergens in these?

Sea Salt, BBQ and Salsa Mozaics are all free of the top eight allergens. Cheddar Mozaics are made with real cheese, and Sour Cream & Onion’s made with real sour cream, so those two have dairy.

Are these dairy-free?

Cheddar and Sour Cream & Onion Mozaics contain dairy.
